Replica of an Iron Age serpent finger ring.
This remarkable serpent shaped finger ring of the Scandinavian Iron age was found in Naustdal in Western Norway and is exhibited today in the Historical Museum in Bergen.
Serpent shaped finger rings were quite common during the iron age and were influenced by Roman finger rings. A quite similar Iron Age finger ring was also found in Nordrup near Ringsted in Danmark.
The Iron age finger ring is openable as it was often used during the Iron age and the Viking Age. This allows the Germanic finger ring to adapt to a ring diameter of 17 to 21 mm. Widest measure 2.5 cm
