This detailed replica of a disc-shaped pendant from the Viking Age was made after the treasure found from Stora Ryk in Sweden.The original, the amulet from Stora Ryk is today in the Statens Historiska Museum in Stockholm / Sweden and dates to the middle of the 10th century.

In 1936, a silver treasure from the early 10th century was found during excavations in the Swedish village of Stora Ryk in the municipality of Färgelande in Dalsland, near the border with Norway. The farm labourer Ewald Andersson was digging a trench for a water pipe when he suddenly came across what he thought was a stone with his spade. It turned out to be part of a soapstone pot that had been placed over a Viking silver treasure buried about half a metre in the ground. In addition to a magnificent brooch, the treasure from Stora Ryk contained a whole series of beads made of silver, semi-precious stones and glass, various pendants in silver and bronze, and a necklace. Since its discovery, the Stora Ryk silver treasure has been in the Statens Historiska Museet and the Royal Numismatic Collection.
