Another key feature of the Ödeshög Thor's hammer is the head area, which is designed in the form of a stylized owl's head with large eyes and beak.

The Thor's Hammer is the magical war hammer of the Viking god Thor, with which he fought the enemies of the gods. The Vikings also called the Thor's hammer Mjölnir, which means "crusher" or "lightning bolt".
In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Mjölnir was widely used as neck jewellery, as it made it possible to distinguish oneself as an Old Believer from the emerging Christians. Viking women also often owned a Thor's hammer as a symbol of fertility.
