This replica of a small mount for a Viking knife sheath or sax scabbard was made detailed after a model from Birka / Sweden.Scabbard mounts of this type are known from various places in the Viking Age, including Birka and Gotland, and were used to fit the edge of a leather scabbard lengthwise.
The Viking Age scabbard mount measures 1 x 0.7 cm. Opening 5 mm.
Suits perfectly to mount two layers of 2 - 2.5 mm thick leather.
You can buy the mount chain in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.

A brass pin is included to attach the mount to the scabbard. To mount it, insert it through a hole in the leather and shorten it about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
Then you can simply tap it with a small hammer in circular motions and fix the fitting permanently to the leather scabbard in this way.
