Scabbard fitting for a Viking knife or sax.
This replica of a small fitting for a knife scabbard or sax scabbard from the time of the Vikings was made after a model from Birka / Sweden.Scabbard fittings of this type are known from various places in the Viking Age, including Birka and Gotland, and were used to fit the edge of a leather scabbard lengthwise.
The Viking Age scabbard fitting measures 1 x 0.7 cm.
Made from high-quality bronze casting or real silver-plated.
A brass pin is included to attach the fitting to the scabbard. To mount it, insert it through a hole in the leather and shorten it about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
Then you can simply tap it with a small hammer in circular motions and fix the fitting permanently to the leather scabbard in this way.
