Productdetails...

Celtic belt hook replica of the La Tène period.

This detailed replica of a Celtic belt hook for the sword belt is made after a find from the Heidetränk-Oppidum near Oberursel / Germany and dates to the La Tène period.

Link to the original belt hook...

Celtic belt hooks of the Latène period are known from several find sites and were demonstrably used by the Celts as fasteners for sword belts.
Link to a Celtic sword belt...

Belt hooks were also used for the ring belts of wealthy Celtic women. A very similar hook buckle was probably also used as a fastener for Roman legionary bags, as shown on the Trajan column in Rome. Link to the Roman bag...

The Celtic belt hook has the following dimensions:
Inner diameter: 1.80 cm
width: 2,30 cm x 3,00 cm
Height: 1,60 cm

Available in high-quality bronze or real silver-plated.

In the area of the Heidetränk opidum, finds of a smaller settlement were recovered that date back to the 3rd century BC. It was not until the expansion at the end of the 2nd century BC that the actual oppidum with the size of a town came into being. The heyday of the Heidetränk oppidum thus lies in the late Latène period. In the middle of the 1st century BC, the Heidetränk Oppidum finally lost its importance, and the site had long since been abandoned when the Romans later occupied parts of Hesse.
