50 leather scales for lamellar armours.
These leather scales for a lamellar armour are made of a strong grain leather that offers excellent protection. The crest-shaped leather scales are 3 - 3.5 mm thick and are ideally suited for making a sturdy, solid lamellar armour out of leather.
The scales are prepared with eight punched holes, two on each of the four sides - so they can be joined together without the need for additional backing material. The scales overlap each other both horizontally and vertically. This creates an excellent protective effect.
The dimensions of the leather scales are 8 x 5 cm, the hole size is 3 mm.
The colours black or brown are available, whereby the individual shades can vary slightly in some cases, resulting in an attractive colour scheme when combined - each scale is unmistakably unique!
The package contains 50 leather scales of one colour.
Leather scales have been used since ancient times by the Persians, Greeks and Romans to make scale armour and were still in use by the Byzantines and Vikings until the late Middle Ages. In addition to armour scales made of leather, those made of bronze, iron and even bone or horn were also used.
