Jingle bell based on models from the Middle Ages - 22 mm.
Traditional jingle bells like this one are also called cross clamps. They are made of sheet iron, available brass-plated or nickel-plated and were widely used in the Middle Ages. The larger the volume of a jingle bell, the stronger the sound. Jingles made of sheet metal have a more delicate sound than jingle bells made of solid cast brass.
In the course of time, jingle bells take on a somewhat duller colour, and they may even start to rust slightly if they get damp. If you want to prevent this, you should occasionally rub the jingles with a little oil, but a rustic appearance is often very much appreciated, especially in medieval garb.
