Cross-slotted Jingle Bell after medieval models - 16 mm.
This small jingle bell in the shape of a ball is made of sheet iron and are available in antique, brass-plated or nickel-plated.Miniature jingle bells like these were worn not so much for their sound but mainly for decoration. In the Middle Ages Clamps were therefore often used instead of a button to fasten the garment.
Over time, jingles made of sheet iron tend to take on a duller colour and may even start to rust slightly under unfavourable conditions. If you want to avoid this, it is recommended to treat the jingles with a little clear varnish beforehand.
