The Gokstad Ship is one of Norway's most remarkable cultural sites. The ship was named after the Gokstad farm on which the burial mound is located, where a Viking king was buried together with it over 1000 years ago.
The Viking ship from Gokstad dates from 901 AD and can be admired today in the Vikingskipmuseet on Bygdøy in Oslo next to the no less famous Oseberg ship.
In addition to the Gokstad ship, two smaller boats and several skeletons of animals have also been recovered, as well as two peacocks, which, along with Gokstad's precious Viking belt, makes the rank of this person clear.
