Short description
Serpent shaped upper arm ring after a historical model from the Greek antiquity. Bronze, silver-plated or 925 silver. 9 cm diameter.
Productdetails...

Antique serpent bracelet for the upper arm.

This snake bracelet is made after a historical model from Greek antiquity and is worn on the upper arm.

The original snake bracelet dates to the Ptolemaic era from 300 - 250 BC and shows the shape of a snake in great detail. Especially the head is reproduced in a very naturalistic way.

Link to the original Serpent-Bracelet...

Due to its regular moulting, the snake symbolised youth and rebirth in Greek and Roman antiquity and was equally a symbol of protection and healing.

The snake bracelet is made of high-quality cast bronze and is also available in genuine silver-plated.

The upper arm ring has a diameter of approx. 9 cm and is flexible, so it can be adjusted very well to the respective upper arm.

In ancient times, the motif of the snake had a complex symbolism and can be found in both negative and positive contexts. It is associated with the snake-headed Medusa and the Hydra, against which the Greek hero Heracles fought in battle.

The snake also symbolises the Greek goddess Hera and accompanies the Greek god of healing, Asclepius, on his journeys.

On the one hand, the snake is a deadly predator, hence Apophis, the Egyptian god of destruction and chaos, appears in the form of a snake. On the other hand, the serpent, as a so-called uraeus serpent, offers protection to the Pharaoh, who therefore wears it on his head as an ornament.

In the Old Testament, the serpent as the messenger of the devil brings both destruction and doom to Paradise - But the "Brazen Serpent" from the 4th Book of Moses at the same time protects the people of the Israelites on their wanderings from the poison of the desert serpents.
