Iron Thor's hammer replica from Björkö.
This hand-forged iron Thor's Hammer was made from a single piece and is based on an original from the Viking Age.
The historical model for this simple Thor's Hammer is a Viking Age find, which was discovered in the so-called black earth on the island of Björkö in the Swedish province of Uppland.

The simply shaped Thor's hammer measures approx. 3.5 x 3 cm and thus corresponds approximately to the historical model.
The end is forged into an eyelet. With the enclosed leather strap, the forged Thor's hammer can be worn around the neck as a pendant.
In the 9th and 10th century the Thor's Hammer was quite popular and widespread as an amulet among the Vikings because with the so-called Mjölnir one could distance oneself as a heathen from the more and more emerging Christianity.
The Vikings called the Thor's Hammer Mjölnir, which meant crusher or lightning because the Thor's Hammer was the magic war hammer of the Nordic god Thor, with which he fought the giants and the Midgard snake. Besides precious Mjölnir pendants made of bronze and silver, several finds of Thor's Hammer amulets forged from iron are known from the Viking Age.
