The Trewhiddle style is an Anglo-Saxon style of art which takes its name from the Trewhiddle treasure discovered in Trewhiddle, Cornwall in 1770. This treasure contained outstanding metalwork dating from the ninth century, decorated in an animated, complex style.
Trewhiddle ornamentation often used interlocking niello inlays and zoomorphic, plant and geometric patterns carved into objects made of silver. Famous examples of the Trewhiddle style include the Pentney hoard, the Abindgdon sword, the Fuller brooch and the Strickland brooch.
