Pocket god amulet with the figure of the seated Thor.

This pendant with the image of the seated god Thor was modelled on a Viking Age find from Iceland, dating to around 1000 AD.

The historical model for this "pocket god" is the so-called Eyrarland statue, a bronze statue found on the Eyrarland farm in the Akureyri area of Iceland.

The original Thor amulet is now in the National Museum of Iceland.

In contrast to the historical original with a size of 6.7 cm, we have made this replica smaller for use as an amulet.
Dimensions: 2.6 x 2.2 x 0.9 cm.

You can buy this Viking pendant in high-quality bronze or real silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time).

A black leather cord in 1 m length is included with the sitting Thor amulet.

The statue of the gods of Eyrarland is interpreted as an image of the Norse god Thor, who holds his magic hammer clasped in both hands. The meaning is unknown. Perhaps it was an idol or a figure for a game of chance.

The statue of the "Seated Thor" was excavated in 1815 or 1816 on one of the two farms Eyrarland near Akureyri. It is also believed that the statue is related to a scene from the Edda poem Þrymskviða, in which Thor holds his hammer with both hands while sitting during the wedding ceremony. So it could also have been a bridal offering.
