Viking Age pendant in Jelling style.
This openwork Viking jewellery is based on a 10th century Jelling-style disc brooch, according to original finds from the Viking Age.The disc brooch, which was the inspiration for this Viking pendant, was found in the same version not only in Birka but also in Haithabu (northern Germany), Sweden, Denmark and England.

The Jelling style is an artistic style of the Viking Age that flourished in the middle of the 10th century and was named after its main find from the royal tomb of Jelling in Denmark.
Illustrations in the Jelling style can be found on pieces of jewellery and rune stones, on everyday objects made of metal and stone as well as on jewellery. This art style emerged through Anglo-Saxon influences in Scandinavia, whereby the slender, elongated animal figures of insular art found their way into Viking Age design, gradually replacing the prevalent Scandinavian griffin as the most important motif.
