Raven shaped amulet of the Viking era.

This striking pendant with the expressive depiction of a Viking raven was made after a historical model from the Viking Age, which served as a clasp for leg wraps.

The historical original, which served as a model for the pendant, comes from Jaroslav / Russia and dates back to the 10th century. A very similar raven was also found on Gotland.

The raven amulet is made of high-quality bronze and also available in genuine silver-plated.

The dimensions are 4 x 2 cm.
A black leather strap in 1 m length is included.

The raven has been a recurring element in human myths and legends since time immemorial. It was also sacred to the North Germanic tribes. The ravens Hugin and Munin were the faithful companions of the Norse god Odin, who sent them out into the world every morning and brought him new news every evening, for Odin was the god of wisdom and also bears the epithet Hrafnáss "raven god". Hugin stands for thought, reasoning and wisdom, while Munin stands for memory, recollection and omniscience.

The early Celts also believed that the raven was a messenger of the Otherworld. Oracles were read from its flight and divinations were made from its appearance in dreams. The Celtic god of light Lugh, patron of magicians, warriors and poets and creator of the arts, was also always accompanied by a raven.
