Short description
Replica of the amulet of Vårby, a Viking pendant in Borre and Jelling style after a find from Sweden. Bronze, silver-plated or 925 Silver 4 x 3.3 cm.
Productdetails...

Viking gripping beast amulet replica from Vårby.

The original Viking model for this Viking amulet reproduction dates to the 9th century and was found together with several differently designed pendants in the hoard from Vårby / Sweden.

The pendant from Vårby is considered the most prominent representative of the fusion of Borre style and Jelling style. The most popular motif of the Borre style shows a gripping beast, usually framed in a circle, while the animal figures of the Jelling style are more slender and designed with a long, S-shaped body and band decoration.

The Viking pendant from Vårby is shaped as a circle and shows Jelling-style animals with ribbon-shaped bodies in profile and heads with open jaws and protruding tongues. But each with prehensile paws and an entwined body, which are typical features of the Borre style.
