Large Viking wolf cross hammer.
This striking Thor's hammer pendnat was modelled in detail on the Mjölnir of Fossi in Iceland and combines pagan and Christian symbolism into a harmonious whole.
It may be that the wearer of this pendant once wanted to assure himself of both heavenly powers. Or that he wore the pendant to be able to trade with both pagan and Christian customers...
In any case, the wolf's cross hammer is a unique testimony to the changes in thought that characterised the Vikings in the north during the 10th century.
The expressive Viking pendant is made of cast zink alloy and is available in brass or silver colour.
Dimensions of the wolf cross Thor's hammer: 5.3 x 3 cm.
An 1 metre long black cotton cord for the amulet is included.
In Old Norse, the Thor's hammer is also called Mjölnir, which can be translated as crusher or lightning. The Thor's hammer was the war hammer of the Norse god Thor, with which he smashed his enemies, especially the giants and the Midgard Serpent, whereby his hammer returned to Thor's hand automatically after each throw.
In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Thor's hammer was widely used by the Vikings as a counterpart to the Christian cross in order to visibly and clearly distance themselves from the emerging Christianity as an Old Believer pagan.
