Wolf Cross - Viking amulet replica from Iceland.

This so-called Wolf Cross was modelled on a famous Viking amulet from Fossi on Iceland and combines pagan and Christian symbolism into a harmonious whole.

It may be that the wearer of this Wolf Cross wanted to assure himself of both heavenly powers at the time. Or he simply wore that Viking amulet to be able to trade with both pagan and Christian customers.

The Wolf Cross of Fossi is a magnificent testimony to the changes in thought that moved the Vikings in the north during the 10th century.

In Old Norse, the Thor's hammer was also called Mjölnir, which can be translated as crusher or lightning. The Thor's hammer was the magical war hammer of the Norse god Thor, with which he defeated his enemies, above all the so-called giants and, at the end of the world, the Midgard Serpent. The hammer returned to the god's hand after each throw.

In the 9th and 10th centuries, the Thor's hammer was very widespread in the north as a counter-model to the Christian cross, in order to visibly distinguish oneself as a pagan from the strengthening Christianity.
