This Thor's hammer pendant is based on a 10th century find from Kabbarp in southern Sweden and is a successful replica.
The famous Skåne hammer is ideal for an authentic depiction of the Viking Age, as the Skåne hammer is one of the most famous of all Thorshammer finds.
The original Skåne hammer was made of silver and hollow on the inside, but closed on the back with a silver plate - a true masterpiece of Viking gold smithing. Our Thor's hammer, on the other hand, is open.
Skåne hammer dimensions: 4.5 x 3.5 cm.
The skull hammer is made of cast zamak and is available in the colours brass or silver.
A 2 mm cotton cord in 1 m length is included with the skull hammer.
In old Norse, the Thor's hammer was called Mjölnir, which meant lightning or crusher. The Thor's hammer was carried by the Germanic god Donar or Thor, who used the Mjölnir to smash the enemies of the gods, such as the giants and the Midgard serpent.
Once the Thor's hammer had been thrown, it returned to the god's hand of its own accord. In the 9th and 10th centuries, the carrying of the Mjölnir was very widespread among the Vikings because by wearing a Thor's hammer one could distance oneself as a heathen from the Christians for all to see.
