Thor's Hammer after the Viking Mjölnir of Kabbarp.
The detailed Thor's hammer is made after the Mjölnir of Kabbarp, which is also called the Skåne hammer after the place where it was found in southern Sweden and dates to the late Viking Age.
This large Mjölnir is indeed a real eye-catcher and is unparalleled in this design. There are probably only a few Thor's hammers that are as expressive as the famous Skåne hammer.
The back of our Skåne hammer is somewhat hollowed out to save weight. The original Thor's hammer, on the other hand, had a closed backplate.
The Viking Mjölnir from Scania is made of high-quality bronze and is available in real silver plated.
A black leather cord in 1 m length is included.
The Old Norse name Mjölnir for the Thor's hammer means crusher or lightning. The Mjölnir was the magical war hammer of the Viking god Thor, who used it to fight the enemies of the gods, especially the giants and, at the end of the world in Ragnarok, the Midgard Serpent.
After being thrown, the Thor's hammer returned to Thor's hand all by itself. Wearing the Thor's hammer was quite common among the Vikings in the 9th and 10th centuries, because by wearing a Thor's hammer as a pagan, one could distance oneself from the emerging Christianity for all to see.
