Replica of a rock crystal pendant from the Viking Age.
Impressive replica of a spherical rock crystal pendant in a small version, which was made at the end of the Viking Age in the middle of the 11th century on Gotland in Sweden.The original of this Viking rock crystal pendant was found in Domerarve / Öja on Gotland and is now in the Statens Historiska Museet, Stockholm.
In contrast to the historical original made of rock crystal, we offer our Gotland Sphere with a sphere made of glass, which also allows a less wealthy clientele to wear this noble jewellery of the Vikings.
The setting of the Gotland Sphere is made of bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
A vblack leather strap of 1 m length is included.
Diameter of the Viking sphere pendant: 4.2 x 2.2 cm.
Ring diameter 1.5 cm. Sphere diameter 2 cm.
A smaller and a larger ball pendant, e.g. for a composition as a necklace, are also available.
Pendants made of rock crystal are impressive evidence of the highly developed jewellery design in the late Viking Age and are so far only known from the Swedish island of Gotland, making them an absolute speciality in the jewellery of the Viking Age.
Complete necklaces made of rock crystal with silver settings and precious silver beads have even been found on Gotland and belong to the undisputed masterpieces of Viking jewellery craftsmanship.
