Gotland Sphere - Sphere pendant of the Viking Age.
Replica of a Viking Age rock crystal pendant in the shape of a sphere, which was made on Gotland / Sweden at the end of the Viking Age in the middle of the 11th century.The original of this sphere pendant from the Viking Age was found in Domerarve / Öja on the island of Gotland and is now in the possession of Statens Historiska Museet, Stockholm.
In contrast to the historical original made of rock crystal, we offer the Gotland sphere pendant with a sphere made of glass, which also allows a less affluent clientele to wear this beautiful Viking jewellery.
The setting of the Gotland sphere is made of bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
A black leather strap of 1 m length is included with the pendant.
Dimension Gotland pendant: 5 x 2.6 cm.
Sphere diameter 2.4 cm. Ring diameter 2.4 cm.
A smaller and a larger sphere pendant, e.g. for a composition as a necklace, are also available.
Pendants made of rock crystal are remarkable evidence of the highly developed jewellery design in the late Viking Age and so far only known from the Swedish island of Gotland. The rock crystal pendants are thus an absolute speciality in the jewellery of the Viking Age. Complete necklaces made of rock crystal with silver settings and precious silver beads have even been found on Gotland, which belong to the absolute masterpieces of Viking Age jewellery.
