This amulet was modelled on a pendant in Slavic granulation technique from the Viking Age, which was found in grave BJ 943 in the Viking city of Birka / Sweden.The original pendant was made of silver with an elaborate granulation technique, which was typical of Slavic jewellery at the time of the Vikings. In the granulated pendants of the Viking Age, small beads and fine wires were soldered onto the amulet in intricate detail work.
Our replica, on the other hand, is completely cast in one piece, whereby the filigree representation is magnificently expressed.
