Slavic moon amulet from the Viking Age.

This delicate lunula pendant is a scaled-down replica of an original Slavic moon charm after an find from the Kievan Rus.

The lunula amulet has Slavic origins, but it spread throughout the Baltic region during the 10th century.

Moon pendants were particularly popular with the Slavs, Rus and the Eastern Vikings. The lunula pendant was mainly used as a protective amulet for girls and women.

Lunula pendant dimensions: 3.5 x 2.5 cm.

The Slavic lunula pendant in the shape of half a moon is a symbol of feminine powers and thus symbolises the power of the moon. The lunula amulet was intended, among other things, to protect the unborn child and protect the mother from harm.

The lunula amulet was already widespread among the Romans. Moon pendants can be found as a symbol of the Roman moon goddess Luna in many Roman settlements, military camps and burial sites from the 2nd century AD. Lunula amulets were also popular with the Germanic tribes and Slavs.
