This cross-shaped Lunitsa or Lunula pendant from the Viking Age is a replica of a Slavic moon pendant, made after an original find from Kiever Rus.
Lunitsa pendants were especially popular among the Slavs, Rus and the Eastern Vikings. The Lunitsa amulet served as protection for girls and women.
Dimensions of the Lunitsa pendant: 3.5 x 3.5 cm.
This amulet is made from high-quality bronze casting and also available in real silver-plated.
A black leather cord in 1 m length for the Lunitsa amulet is included.
The Slavic Lunitsa / Lunula pendant in the shape of the crescent moon is emblematic of the female powers and thus symbolizes the power of the moon. Among other things, the Lunula amulet was supposed to ensure the protection of the unborn child and protect the mother from harm.
The Lunitsa amulet was already widespread among the Romans. Moon pendants are found as a symbol of the Roman moon goddess Luna from the 2nd century AD onwards in many Roman settlements, field camps and burial sites. Likewise, Lunula amulets were also popular among the Germanic and Slavic peoples.
