Obscene-erotic medieval pendant.

Here you can buy a remarkable pendant, that was made after a late medieval pewter badge with a genital showing man.

This small pendant was made after a medieval pewter badge, whose often obscene-erotic depiction was very common in the late Middle Ages and served for amusement.

On this medieval sign a male figure is depicted in great detail, looking through his legs and presenting his two-handed dilated buttocks to the viewer, with his erect member clearly visible.

The historical model for the was made of pewter and comes from the Netherlands. It dates to the period from 1325 to 1375 AD.

The medieval pendant is made of high-quality bronze or in genuine silver-plated.

There is a small eyelet on the back so that the pendant can be attached to clothing or worn as a pendant around the neck.

The obscene-erotic medieval pendant has the dimensions of 2.3 x 2.3 cm and thus corresponds exactly to the historical model.
A black leather strap in 1 m length is included.

The obscene-erotic badges of the Middle Ages form a subgroup of the profane pilgrim signs. This group also includes copulating couples, so-called phallic trees or personified genitalia, such as the phallic animal, an often winged phallus with legs and a clasp around its neck, or the winged vulva or the vulva with legs and arms.

If one compares depictions of sexuality and obscenity in pictorial sources and in the literature of the Middle Ages, the most likely interpretation for the obscene-erotic carrying signs is that attempts were made to thematize sexuality with the help of comedy and that these carrying signs are to be interpreted as joking gifts of love, or simply as a means of promoting communication in the course of initiating sex.
