Productdetails...

Celtic seahorse amulet from the 1st century AD.

This delicate Celtic seahorse amulet is based on a so-called Romano-Britannic dragonesque brooch from the 1st century AD.

The seahorse-shaped dragonesque brooch became widespread among the Celtic Britons after the Roman conquest of England, and combines Celtic artistic sensibilities with Roman influences.

In ancient times, seahorses were believed to pull the chariots of the sea gods, and were therefore associated with Neptune and Poseidon. Seahorses are said to bring movement to the emotional world and convey trust, guidance and harmony.

The Celtic seahorse amulet measures 3.4 x 1.7 cm.

You can buy this amulet in high-quality bronze or genuine silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (please note the delivery time).

A 1 m long black leather cord is included with the seahorse amulet.

The seahorse brooch, also known as the dragonesque brooch, is a Romano-British variation of the brooch that spread throughout British craftsmanship in the first century following the Roman conquest of England.

This brooch combined basic Celtic forms with Roman influences and was very common in England during this period for fastening robes and capes.
