Authentic Anglo-Saxon dress fastener.

Replica of an early medieval dress fastener from a grave find from the 6th century Anglo-Saxon settlement of Eriswell in Suffolk.

Such robe hooks made of spirally coiled wire were common among the Anglo-Saxons during the early Middle Ages and were used instead of buttons to close the sleeve openings of women's robes.

Link to the original robe hook....

The beautifully designed Anglo-Saxon dress fastener is made of brass and is also available silver-plated.
Dimensions: 2 x 2 cm

The medieval robe hook is easily attached to the robe with a few stitches through the openings of the spiral coils.

A good overview of early medieval dress fasteners can be found in the publication "Clasps, Hektespenner, Agraffen" by John Hines.
