Large mounting ring for chains and fittings.
This open mounting ring can be used to connect several ends of a Viking chain and hang them into the eyelet of a brooch or as a ring eyelet for a scabbard fitting.Especially in Finland and the Baltic States, it was common to wear several chains on top of each other during the Viking Age, so a somewhat larger ring was needed to join several chain links together in this costume.
This assembly ring is also suitable for linking several strands of chain from a central chain. This is necessary, for example, for chains used in Viking toiletry sets, where up to three shorter chains can be attached to a central, longer chain, to which various implements such as a needle box, awl, ear spoon, tweezers etc. can be attached.
The mounting ring has an outer diameter of 15 mm and an inner diameter of 11 mm. Material thickness approx. 2 mm.
The mounting ring is available in bronze or silver-plated.
It can also be ordered in real 925 sterling silver.
