This knife blade in broken-back shape was made after a find from Hedeby, the type 6, which was the most used blade shape there.The "Hedeby" Viking knife blade is equipped with a tang, which is inserted into the wooden or bone handle for attachment.
For optical reasons, the "Hedeby" knife blade was left with its black surface, which gives the knife blade a rustic appearance and predestines it for use on historical knives.
