Hanger mount for a Viking-period sax scabbard.
This replica of a fitting for the belt strap of a sax sheath from the Viking Age was made after a historical model from Birka / Sweden.Sax sheath fittings of this type are known from various places in the Viking Age, including Birka and Gotland, and were used to attach belt loops to a leather sax sheath.
A larger belt fitting serves as a counterpart for the sax scabbard.
Our large mounting ring works very well as a connector for both parts.
The sax scabbard suspension measures 2 x 1.5 cm.
Made of high-quality bronze casting or real silver-plated.
Two brass pins are included to attach the fitting to the sax scabbard. For mounting, these are inserted through two holes in the leather and shortened about 1 mm above the fitting with a side cutter.
Then you can simply tap the pins with a small hammer in circular motions and fix the fitting permanently to the sax scabbard in this way.
