Medieval wooden spoon based on a find from Constance.
The medieval wooden spoon was made by hand after a find from the city excavations in Constance. The medieval wooden spoon is characterised by its pleasant, warm wood tone and beautifully smoothed surface.
Unlike many examples of medieval wooden spoons, the spoon from Constance has a long, narrow handle. A wooden spoon with a very similar shape was found in Kalmar in Sweden.
The Constance medieval wooden spoon measures 19 x 4.5 cm and is made of acacia wood.
Although short-handled spoons were often used in the Middle Ages, several finds of long-handled wooden spoons show that such shapes were also quite common in the Middle Ages.
