Medieval style needle box with wooden closure.
The needle box is made by hand from real bone and has a practical wooden closure with a screw thread.Needle boxes like this one were already used in Roman times. They were used to store the delicate and then really precious needles made of bone, iron and bronze safely and securely.
Carved bone needle boxes are therefore found quite frequently in archaeological finds from antiquity to the Middle Ages.
Our medieval needle box with wooden closure measures approx. 13 x 2.5 cm.
Made of bone and wood.
The opening has a diameter of 1 cm. Suitable for needles up to 10 cm long.
