Flint in various small sizes.
With a flint and an iron fire steel, you can light a crackling fire in just a few simple steps, just like in the Middle Ages.To create a spark, you need a flint with a sharp edge, as these produce the best sparks - but a little patience and practice are required.
The flint measures approximately 3 x 2 x 1 cm, but can vary significantly from stone to stone.
With flint, fire iron and tinder, you can easily start a fire with a little practice. Striking evenly with the fire striker produces a spark that quickly causes dry tinder to smoulder.
By blowing carefully and steadily, the glow soon turns into a small flame, which must be fed with more dry material so that it soon becomes a real fire. Dried birch sponge fungus, cattail and fine birch paper are suitable as tinder.
