Viking chain trammel after a medieval find.

Here you can buy an authentic Viking chain trammel with which you can hang and adjust your medieval pot over the fire.

The historical model for this Viking chain trammel comes from a grave find from Bengtsarvet in the municipality of Sollerön in Dalarna, Sweden. Another, very similarly designed chain trammel is also known from the Viking Age, so it seems that these were common tools in Viking households.

The Viking chain trammel has a ring on one side with which the chain is attached to a hook or tripod. At the other end, the fire chain has a forged double hook into which the pot is hooked and with which the height is also regulated.

The hook is simply hooked into one of the chain links. In this way, you can easily adjust the height of this medieval chain trammel to a length of between 15 and 49 and can therefore always choose the perfect distance to the fire.

The Viking chain trammel is 49 cm long in total.
The ring measures 4.5 cm in diameter
The double hook measures 12.5 x 4.5 cm

Forged chains trammels are also known from medieval kitchens in castles and fortresses, and are therefore still a practical and authentic piece of equipment for stylish LARP and medieval re-enactment camps.
