Short description
Medieval Food Pricker or Skewer i round shape made from hand forged iron. Tool for picking up or skewering food in Medieval re-enactment. 16 x 1.5 cm.
Productdetails...

Medieval food pricker based on models from the Middle Ages.

This medieval food pricker is forged by hand. The beautiful matt black surface emphasizes the rustic character of this tool.

Like its historical models from the Middle Ages, the food pricker is artfully twisted and elegantly rolled at the end so that a leather strap can be threaded through it if necessary.

The dimensions of the food pricker are 16 x 1.5 cm.

The food pricker was widespread in the Middle Ages and can be found everywhere in Central Europe. In the Middle Ages, the fork was considered diabolical because of its tines and was only used as a roasting fork or to fish pieces of meat out of the pot.

In those days, only the hands, the knife and the food pricker were used for eating. The latter was used to break open the bones to get at the marrow and as a toothpick. It was thus a universal "eating tool".

A pricker can be found in the Middle Ages both on civilian and military clothing and as part of hunting tools. Knife scabbards and sometimes even sword scabbards often had a separate sheath for the awl. It was thus used not only for eating but also for all kinds of everyday tasks.

This medieval food pricker is a historical prop that is produced in small numbers and therefore does not have food law certification. We are therefore obliged to give the following notice: Prop - not certified for food contact.
