Short description
Lucet made of real horn - Knitting tool for weaving cords and strings as in the Middle Ages and the Viking Age. 13 x 3.5 cm.
Productdetails...

Medieval lucet made of horn.

Handcrafted medieval lucet made of genuine water buffalo horn - historical knitting tool for braiding cords and strings.

The medieval horn lucet is made from a single piece of horn and the surface is carefully smoothed and polished.

The dimensions of the horn lucet are 13 x 3.5 cm, with two holes 1 cm in diameter.

Knitting tools were already known to the Vikings and were used for braiding cords and strings, as several finds of historical knitting forks show.

Braiding with a medieval lucet...

Weaving with a lucet is easy and quick to learn. You don't have to cut the thread to a certain length, which is very practical because you can make a cord of any length without having to determine the size beforehand. You can also use different techniques and variations to get cords in different colours and styles.
