This authentic replica of a Viking Age bone spoon is made after the historic find of an ivory spoon found in Winchester / England.The Viking Age bone spoon is hand carved from real bone and carefully polished for a pleasantly smooth surface.
The artistically designed dragon's head at the transition from spoon handle to spoon is particularly pretty.
The Viking bone spoon measures 16 x 2 x 0.5 cm.
In contrast to today's tablespoons, the Viking bone spoons were rather flat and spatula-shaped, as they were mainly used to eat porridge and groats. Soups were slurped directly from the bowl.
Next to horn, bone was the plastic of the ancients, so to speak, easy to obtain, easy to work with and versatile. It is therefore not surprising that a large number of objects made of these materials can be found in Viking households.
Since the Viking Age leg spoon is made by hand and only in small quantities, it does not have any food certification and is therefore virtually only offered as a prop that is not certified for food use.
