Bone comb of the Viking Age with case.
This detailed replica of a Viking Age bone comb with case was made entirely by hand from genuine bone after a find from the Swedish village Vendel.
Combs made of bone and horn were already in use at the time of the Celts and Romans, and they were used also by Germans and Vikings up to the late Middle Ages for daily hair care.
Contrary to popular reports, hygiene and cleanliness were certainly very important to our ancestors. Thus, combs of bones and horn are found in large numbers in the archaeological material of the Viking Age
Viking comb and case have the dimensions 13,5 x 4 x 1 cm.
The comb only has the measures 11.5 x 3 x 1 cm.
