Productdetails...

Medieval robe clasp "Green Man.

Here you can buy a medieval robe clasp designed after the motif of the "Green Man".

The medieval robe clasp shows the motif of the so-called green man, which was especially typical of the sacred art of the High and Late Gothic periods and in which a pagan symbolism had survived in a Christian context.

Due to its size and solid design, the medieval robe buckle is particularly suitable for heavy capes or woollen cloaks in LARP and medieval re-enactment.

With needle and thread, the robe clasp can be easily sewn onto the cloak with the eyelets all around.

The medieval robe clasp is made of high-quality bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.

The dimensions of the "Green Man" robe clasp are 6 x 5 cm.

The Green Man is the name given to certain decorative elements on sacred and secular buildings of the Middle Ages which show a male head whose main hair and beard are in the shape of leaves.

The myth of the Green Man dates back to pre-Christian pagan times and survives in the cathedrals of the High and Late Gothic periods, where the Green Man was often depicted as a leafy face in hundreds of sculptures in corners, lintels and plinths.

The Green Man picks up on two Celtic motifs, the head cult, which regarded the head as the bearer of all power, and the mistletoe cult, which Celtic druids cut with a golden sickle to heal illnesses and strengthen the life forces. Both elements, head and plant, are found in the Green Man motif.
