Link to the original trefoil brooch...
The treasure hoard from Stora Ryk included in addition to the trefoil brooch some beads of silver, glass and semiprecious stone and as well a number of granulated pendants in silver and bronze, coins and a necklace. The trove was found in 1936 on the farm of Stora Ryk in Färgelanda / Dalsland
Instead of the difficult and costly granulation technic of the original, this replica is cast in one piece. On the back of the trefoil brooch from Stora Ryk a stable needle is attached which makes it suitable for closing heavy stuff as well. The Diameter of the Viking brooch is 7 cm.
You can buy this Viking brooch in high-quality bronze or real silver-plated.
Alternatively, also available in 925 sterling silver (Please note the delivery time).
Alloy...
Once the trefoil brooch was worn centred on the breast of the Viking woman's dress or used to close lighter cloaks and was a popular accessory for the historical garb of the Viking Age.
In 1936, a silver treasure from the early 10th century was found during excavations in the Swedish village of Stora Ryk in the municipality of Färgelande in Dalsland, close to the border with Norway.
Farm labourer Ewald Andersson was digging a trench for a water pipe when he suddenly struck what he thought was a stone with his spade.
This turned out to be part of a pot made of soapstone, which had been placed over a Viking Age silver treasure buried about half a metre into the ground. The treasure from Stora Ryk contained a magnificent brooch, the clover brooch, a whole series of beads made of silver, semi-precious stones and glass, various pendants in silver and bronze and a necklace.
Since its discovery, the silver treasure of Stora Ryk has been housed in the Statens Historiska Museet, Stockholm, and in the Royal Coin Cabinet.
