This expressive Viking disc brooch that you can buy here was made after the discovery of the brooch from Vårby in Sweden, which dates back to the 9th century.The center of the Viking disc brooch from Vårby is dominated by a cross. However, since most of Sweden was still committed to the pagan rite at that time, it is possible that the four heads at the ends of the cross rather symbolize the four wind directions, which in the Germanic Edda are called Nordri, Sudri, Austri and Westri and were considered as separate entities.

The Viking treasure of Vårby was found in 1871 in Huddinge in the Swedish province of Södermannland under a stone in the forest. In addition to a large, plastically carved disc brooch, two ring pins with spherical ends in English style and nine pendants with animal ornaments in Borre and Eastern style were found, as well as numerous belt fittings of Oriental origin.
The treasure was probably buried during the 9th century and weighed a total of 1.4 kg, with the objects mostly made of gilded silver. The site is located near the former waterway where merchant ships sailed from Stockholm to Helgö and Birka during the Viking Age.
