Short description
Replica of a Viking chain divider / bead separator from Latvia for the woman Viking garb after an original find. 5.5 x 5.5 cm. Bronze, silver-plated or 925 silver.
Productdetails...

Viking chain divider replica after a find from Latvia.

The historical model for this remarkable replica of a Viking-period chain divider for necklaces was recovered together with other finds during an excavation in Latvia.

The Viking Age chan divider from Latvia is made in elegant openwork and has holes for up to seven chains, although fewer chains can also be attached. Link to the original distributor plate...

Available is that Viking chain divider in high-quality bronze and real silver-plated.

During the Viking Age, such chain dividers were attached below the bowl brooches worn in pairs and connected them with several chains suspended one above the other, some of which could reach a remarkable length.

To attach chain divider to a bowl brooch, we recommend an S-hook.

Dimensions: 5.5 x 5.5 cm.

The price is for a single chain divider, so for a pair, please order two pieces.

In the period from about 700 to 1000 AD, brooches with chain distributor plates worn in pairs were an important part of Viking women's costume. In north-eastern Europe, such bead distributors are therefore often found in women's graves of the Viking Age.

Here, several chains were often worn between the paired brooches worn on the chest, which were either attached to wide distributing plates or to thin bar chain distributors. Especially in Finland and the Baltic States, but also on Gotland, such chain distributors were quite common.
