Buckle plate for medieval straps of 2 cm width - brass.
Buckle plates from brass or bronze were widely spread in the Viking age and the Middle Ages for the connection of buckles on leather belts and, hence, are found quite often in the archaeological material.The medieval buckle plate has the measure 2.9 x 1.9 cm and is suited for a strap with a width of 2 cm.
The belt metal is suited for strap strengths of 3 to 4 mm.
Connection: The belt metal is delivered with double head rivets which are led to the connection simply by the suitable holes in the metal and are fitted together. With a few light blows with a hammer on a firm subsoil the medieval belt metal can be fastened solidly on the belt.
