This brass pin / brass nail is ideal for fastening historical fittings in medieval re-enactment.Dimensions: 1.6 x 13 mm.
The brass pin has a round head and is made of solid brass MS-64, with a proportion of 64% copper and 36% zinc, which ensures good malleability when riveted.
How to fasten fittings with brass nails:
Place the fitting to be fastened on the backing material and mark the space for a 2 mm hole. The head of the pin should be on the visible side when fastening. Depending on the thickness of the material, the brass pin is then shortened to 1.5 - 2 mm on the pointed side and tapped all around in circulating blows with the smallest possible round-headed hammer so that a slightly curved head is formed and the fitting is solidly attached to the backing material. For levelling, sandpaper with 600 grit is recommended. An even better result is achieved by using a suitable head setter (rivet puller) for the final rounding of the heads.
