Replica of a Magyar belt fitting with heart.

This detailed replica of a Magyar belt buckle with an image of a heart was modelled on a Viking-period find from the 10th century that was found in Bulgaria.

The Magyar belt fitting is provided with an aperture, which predestines it to be used as a hole stabilizer on a belt, so that a leather strap for a pouch, knife or the like can be attached.

The passage measures 5 mm in width.

Belt fittings in the shape of a heart were typical of the magnificent belt sets in the Viking Age and were conveyed by Rus and Magyars to Scandinavia via the great trade routes. Therefore, such belt fittings are often found in Viking Age graves.

The Magyar belt fitting measures 2.1 x 1.9 cm.

Made of high-quality bronze and also available in real silver-plated.

Fastening: There are three pins on the back of the Magyar belt fitting. To fasten them, simply insert them through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the bronze fitting will be stable and flat on the belt.
