Short description
Belt mount of the late Middle Ages with four Fleur de Lys after a model from France, dating to the 14th century. Bronze. 2.5 x 2.5 cm.
Productdetails...

Medieval belt mount in the shape of four fleur de lys.

Here you can buy a belt mount from the late Middle Ages, which is based on a French model that dates from the 14th century.

The belt mount shows four abstract lilies, the so-called fleur de lys, which together form a cross.

The dimensions of the medieval belt mount are 2.5 x 2.5 cm.

The Fleur de Lys mount is made of high-quality bronze casting.

Fastening: There are four pins on the back of the medieval belt mount. To attach it, simply pass the pins through the corresponding holes in the leather. It is best to use pliers to bend the tip of the pin inwards a little. If you then tap the pins flat with a hammer, the tip will sink into the leather and the medieval belt mount will be stable and flat on the belt.

In the Middle Ages, the lily was considered a symbol of purity and innocence and was emblematic of the patronage of the Virgin Mary. Due to the tripartite nature of the flower, the lily symbolises the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Christian context.

According to legend, in the early Middle Ages the lily was presented to the Frankish Merovingian king Clovis I by an angel descending from heaven, and so throughout the Middle Ages the fleur-de-lys was also regarded as the coat of arms of the French royal house and was often depicted on clothing or medieval belt fittings.
