Replica of a remarkable Celtic belt buckle based on the find of an early medieval buckle from Lagore / Ireland and dating to the 7th to 8th century.The Celtic buckle "Lagore" measures 11.3 x 4.4 cm and is suitable for belts 3 cm wide.
The original buckle from Lagore had a long bar with an eyelet and measured 18 cm. It was suitable for belts 1.5 cm wide.
Our replica has five eyelets on the back, through which a metal wire is simply passed for fastening, as is documented by historical examples from the early Middle Ages.
Today, the Lagore belt buckle is shown in the National Museum of Ireland.
