Garment clasp in the shape of lilies, the Fleur de Lys.
This filigree garment clasp with the depiction of two lilies is inspired by models of the so-called Fleur de Lys, the coat of arms of the Merovingian kings in the Middle Ages.The medieval robe-hook in the shape of the fleur de lys is very delicate and light. So this garment clasp is perfect for fastening light dresses and robes.
The three holes in the garment clasp can be easily sewn onto the garment with needle and thread.
The garment clasp is made of bronze and is also available in real silver-plated.
The dimensions of the robe hook are 4.5 x 1.8 cm.
According to legend, the lily was given to the Merovingian king Clovis I as a royal symbol by an angel sent down to earth from heaven. The lily was thus the coat of arms of the French kings throughout the Middle Ages as the Fleur de Lys.
In the Middle Ages, however, the lily was also a symbol of purity and innocence, and so the Fleur de Lys, as the flower of light, was also a symbol of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through the tripartite division of the lily blossom, the holy trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit was symbolised in the Fleur de Lys in the Christian context.
